Whether you live in Indian Rocks Beach full time or visit a Pinellas County property for vacations, the Indian Rocks Historical Museum is a great place to visit. The museum has recently moved to a new space and expanded. See the full-wall timeline of the community, with major events highlighted with photographs and art work. The first people to live in Indian Rocks Beach, the Tocobaga Indians, have an exhibit showing their way of life. Interesting Tocobaga artifacts are on display, as well as a mural called “Tocobaga Fishing” by Hermann Trappman. Visitors will also see more recent history of the area, with displays on old landmarks, like the Big Indian Rocks Fishing Pier; the Tiki Gardens, which had a neat Polynesian theme; and Pueblo Village.

Mark your calendar to come for a potluck lunch at the museum on Saturday, November 14th at noon. Bob Wallace will present a Visit to Old Clearwater, complete with vintage photographs, to celebrate the city’s 100th anniversary.

This city has a rich history and an abundance of beautiful historic architecture. Take a walk with knowledgeable and enthusiastic guides who know all about the founding of St. Petersburg and stories behind the lovely and elaborate buildings. Regular two hour tours are available to all who live in St. Petersburg, as well as guests from out of town, October through April on Saturday mornings at 10 a.m. There are often also one hour lunchtime tours during this season on the first Friday of the month. During the warm months in the summer, tours are available only in the evenings on select dates.

There is a bonus tour on any fifth Saturday of the month that occurs during tourist season. Each tour has a different meeting spot and is free to SPP members. The Florida Aquarium is a true asset to all who own Florida homes.
