Learn History of Florida Homes at Heritage Village

Visit Heritage Village near Florida homes.Step back in time at Heritage Village, a free living history museum in Pinellas County. The village is home to more than 30 historic buildings and structures from the 19th and early 20th centuries and is an inspiring place to visit. Volunteers in full costume invite visitors to live and work as they do, weaving palm fronds, blacksmithing and making rope. And visitors get to bring back crafts to their Florida homes!

The village's Native Plant Trail features edible plants the region's tribes and pioneers relied on. Several times a year, the village hosts special Blackpot Gourmet cooking classes, too. Cooking class students learn the art of Blackpot cooking and bring recipes, inspiration and new skills back to their Florida homes.

Heritage Village has several permanent collections of antiques and artifacts from Spanish Florida and more recent eras. And every Fall, the village hosts a County Jubilee – a great place to pick up locally-crafted gifts for Christmas. Village homes are beautifully and authentically decorated for Christmas during Holidays at the Village.

Each vehicle featured in the museum was chosen based on its contribution to the evolution of the automobile.  See the pioneers of front wheel drive as well as cars with engines in the rear from the 1920's and 1930's.  Stand in awe while viewing the world’s only working and accurate replica of the first self-propelled vehicle called the Fardier de Cugnot.  It was invented in 1770 by Nicholas-Joseph Cugnot of France. Many other impressive vehicles grace the 12,000 foot space.  Pinellas County home owners can experience history, art, and science all in one place.
